Lose fat without the all-or-nothing.
Most people do not fail at fat loss because the math was wrong. They fail because the app made a bad week feel like a broken streak. Loopa is built to survive your bad weeks.
Food, weight and water logging with a 30-day trend is free

Four things that decide whether this sticks.
The calorie arithmetic is the easy part and every app gets it roughly right. These are the parts that decide whether you are still doing it in March.
Targets calculated from you, not a preset
The setup interview asks for height, weight, age, activity and the goal you actually have, and works out the calories and macros that fit. It picks a rate you can hold rather than the fastest one arithmetic allows, an aggressive deficit is easy to prescribe and almost impossible to live in. That whole step is free.
Free- Calculated from your own numbers during setup
- A rate built to be sustainable, not impressive
- Macros split to protect muscle while you lose fat
- Free, the setup interview is not behind the paywall

Read the average, ignore the day
Your weight will go up on a Wednesday for reasons that have nothing to do with fat, and reacting to that is how people talk themselves out of something that is working. Loopa plots every weigh-in with a seven-day average over the top, and the average is the line you are meant to read.
Free- Every weigh-in, plus a seven-day average
- Your goal line and current pace on the same chart
- Free, with a rolling 30 days of history

A date it will refuse to give you
Divide a deficit and you get a date, and that date will not survive contact with reality, because loss slows as you go. Hall and Kahan, reviewing weight-loss maintenance in the Medical Clinics of North America (2018), describe the shape: early loss, then a plateau, driven partly by expenditure falling with body mass and mostly by appetite rising, roughly 100 calories a day for every kilogram lost against 20 to 30 lost from expenditure. Loopa’s forecast decelerates, shows a plateau as a plateau, and declines to promise a date that cannot be reached safely in the time you asked for. What If lets you change the inputs and watch the date move before you commit to anything.
Premium- Built from your real rate of change
- Decelerates as you lean out
- Refuses a date faster than the 1–2 lb a week the NHS guidance on losing weight describes
- What If: test a change before you make it

The Friday night that usually ends it
A deficit survives a restaurant if you can see what fits. Name the place or photograph the menu and Loopa ranks the actual items against what is left of your day, with anything on your never-eat list already removed. That is a very different experience from opening a calorie app at the table and quietly closing it again.
Premium- Ranked against what is left of today, not a generic target
- Photograph the menu in front of you
- Allergens and never-eats filtered out first
- One tap to log what you ordered

Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask before starting a deficit.
How does Loopa calculate my calorie target for fat loss?
From your own height, weight, age, activity level and goal, collected in the setup interview, using the published metabolic equations. Mifflin-St Jeor and its relatives, which the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics assessed in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association (2005), to estimate maintenance, and then applying a deficit you can actually hold. It deliberately does not pick the fastest rate the arithmetic allows, because that is the rate people abandon. The whole setup step is free.
How fast will I lose weight?
That depends on you, and Loopa would rather show you a moving projection than a promise. The NHS guidance on losing weight and NIDDK both put a sensible pace at 1 to 2 lb, or about 0.5 to 1 kg, a week. The forecast is built from your own logged rate of change and updates as you go; it slows down as you go, because Hall and Kahan describe exactly that in the Medical Clinics of North America (2018). Expenditure falls as you get lighter and appetite rises, so the same plan produces a smaller deficit over time. If the date you want is not reachable at a safe pace, it declines to give one rather than printing a flattering number.
Do I have to weigh my food?
No. You can type a meal in plain words and Loopa estimates the portions, and it labels the entry as an estimate so you know how precise it is being. Weighing is more accurate, but an app that only works if you weigh a chicken breast is an app most people stop using.
What happens if I have a bad week?
Nothing punitive. There is no streak to break, no red warning, and no reset. Log what you actually ate, and the seven-day average absorbs it. The whole design assumption is that bad weeks happen and the app has to survive them.
Can I do this on the free tier?
Yes, genuinely. Targets, food logging with no daily cap, weight and water tracking, and 30 days of trends cost nothing and have no ads. Premium adds the forecast, meal planning, photo logging, Eating Out and the coach. Helpful, but not the thing that makes a deficit work.
Will Loopa tell me to eat less than is safe?
No. Targets are floored at sensible minimums and the forecast will refuse a goal date it cannot reach safely. If you are managing a medical condition or taking medication that affects any of this, the app points you at your clinician, it is a tracker, not a medical device.
